The Celestron EdgeHD 1400 0.7x Reducer is a 4-element corrector for the EdgeHD 14" telescope. The flattener/reducer uses extra-low dispersion lanthanum glass elements for excellent chromatic correction and high contrast. The 0.7x reduction factor shortens the focal ratio of the EdgeHD 14" to f/7, halving the exposure time and increasing the field of view by 43%.
When paired with this flattener/reducer, the focal length of the EdgeHD 14" becomes 2737mm, giving an excellent field of view for small galaxies and planetary nebulae. The flattener/reducer has a backfocus requirement of 146.05mm, leaving plenty of room for accessories. The field correction is suitable for full frame sensors such as the ASI6200.
All air-to-glass optical surfaces have multiple layers of coatings for maximum light transmission and colour correction. Additionally, each lens has blackened edges to minimize internal reflections and maximize contrast. The CNC-machined aluminium housing keeps the elements secure and precisely aligned.
