GreenLine Roll-off Observatory kits by Dome Parts Optical are cost-effective and ecologically friendly DIY alternatives to observatory domes. Made in Germany, these roll-off kits are extremely simple to install as they do not require specialized tools and are supplied as a flat pack.
The GreenLine MINI-32 is a space-saving solution at 1.60m x 1.60m. It can comfortably hold instruments up to 10-12 inches, such as Schmidt-Cassegrains on a SkyWatcher EQ8 installed on an . The base configuration includes a user friendly manually-operated dual slanted roof and folding rear shutter. Before shipping, each observatory is fully assembled to make sure all parts fit perfectly and make the final construction as easy as possible.
GreenLine observatories are available in a range of sizes to suit single small telescopes to multi-scope remote installations. Optional semi-automatic roof drive systems for all Mini, Medium and Big roll-off observatories are available, as well as full ASCOM-automation configurations for remote control over Ethernet and USB. All Greenline observatories have pre-installed cogrim gears, pulleys and counterweights. The roof drive system can be easily added and is as simple as inserting the motor unit.
Greenline observatories are fumigated but the wood is not treated. As these observatories have been delivered all over the world, Greenline recommends using the proper treatment specific to the types of pests found in your local area. Optional storm protection kits are available separately.

Power considerations
The best solution to power the motors of Greenline observatories is a 12V DC battery using thick cabling (we suggest 6 AWG) and Anderson Powerpole connectors capable of up to 50A. Alternatively, industrial-grade 12V DC switchmode power supplies will also work.
You can use a voltage up to 15V DC (for example using lithium batteries). Keep the supplied voltage above 12V as below such value, torque drops dramatically
Roll-Off observatories roof drives draw 18.5A when opening and 14A when closing.
Both control units are polarity protected - the units do not work when plus and minus are swapped.
